The documentation, disseminating and scaling up effective and proven practices are important steps to accelerate attainment of public health objectives. In response, the West African Health Organization (WAHO) advocated for the Assembly of Health Ministers (AHM) of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to establish the ECOWAS Forum on Best Practices in Health (FBPS). The resolution was approved at the 15th Ordinary Session held on April 11-12, 2014 in Monrovia, Liberia. It should be noted that the terminology "Good Practices in Health" was adopted by the health ministers in lieu of "Best Practices in Health."
The forum will bring together senior officials from ministries of health, regional health experts, researchers and managers of training and research institutions, major local, regional and international NGOs, managers of private companies involved in the health sector, as well as partners in the region and elsewhere.
