The Director General of WAHO Holds a Press Conference on WHO Declaration of the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, 24 July 2019 – The Director General of WAHO held a press conference yesterday 24 July 2019 at the Sopatel Slimande Hotel in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, on WHO declaration of the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.

The purpose of the press conference was to (1) inform the public; (2) explain what WAHO is doing; and (3) reassure the public but also charge them to be doubly vigilant.

The Director General of WAHO, Prof Stanley Okolo used the opportunity to call on the governments of the 15 ECOWAS countries to provide the needed facilities and resources.
